Sources and method

• Which 50 airports: the 50 highest FAA final CY2025 enplanements (FAA passenger boarding data, updated Sep 24, 2026). Includes San Juan (SJU), Puerto Rico, which the FAA ranks with US airports.
• Airport facts (name, coordinates, elevation, runways, website): OurAirports open data, downloaded Oct 26, 2026. Nearby airports are straight-line distances between those coordinates.
• Parking rates: copied by hand from each airport's own parking pages on Oct 26, 2026. Each row links to the exact page. We show the published 24-hour maximum and the rate text as published. Coverage: 50 of 50 airports, 216 lots.
• Rental car companies: brand names that appear on the airport's official rental car page or an official airport news release (44 of 50 airports).
• Hotels: hotels tagged tourism=hotel in OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, Open Database License), read through the Nominatim search service on Oct 26, 2026. Distance is a straight line from the hotel's map position to the center of the nearest passenger terminal building mapped in OpenStreetMap (or the airport reference point where none is mapped). We search 5 miles, or 8 miles where fewer than 10 verified hotels are that close. A hotel is verified when its map entry has a name plus at least one of: the hotel's website, a brand tag, or a street address with number. Entries marked closed or former, under construction, unnamed, duplicated, or whose name shows they are not a hotel (apartments, parking, campgrounds) are listed separately as excluded. Shuttle and park-and-fly notes are quoted word for word from the hotel's own website (the one in its map entry), with the link and date; we did not use booking sites. 50 of 50 airports have 5 or more verified hotels.
• Reservation services: we record whether Way.com, SpotHero and ParkSleepFly have a page for the airport on their own site. We do not quote their prices.

Rules

• No invented prices, wait times or listings. Lists are ordered by public data only (published rate, distance or passenger counts). Missing value = "check official site".
• Pages with fewer than 5 listings are marked noindex and left out of the sitemap.
• Rates change. Always confirm on the airport's page; ours shows the date we checked.

Some airport sites block automated access. We do not get around blocks: where that happened we used another official document (for example a City of Dallas press release for Love Field rates) or left the value empty.

Not sourced this time: parking rates for HNL, SJU; rental car brands for ATL, DEN, BOS, BNA, DAL, RSW.
